Description:
Sodium Stannate, Granular, Reagent is a colorless salt that occurs when tin is dissolved in sodium hydroxide. It is an inorganic compound that is used as a hydrogen peroxide stabilizer.Sodium stannate, formally sodium hexahydroxostannate(IV), is the inorganic compound with the formula Na2[Sn(OH)6]. This colourless salt forms upon dissolving metallic tin or tin(IV) oxide in sodium hydroxide, and is used as a stabiliser for hydrogen peroxide. In older literature, stannates are sometimes represented as having the simple oxyanion SnO32−, in which case this compound is sometimes named as sodium stannate–3–water and represented as Na2SnO3·3H2O, a hydrate with three waters of crystallisation. The anhydrous form of sodium stannate, Na2SnO3, is recognised as a distinct compound with its own CAS Registry Number, 12058-66-1 , and a distinct materials safety data sheet.
Application:
Mordant in dyeing, ceramics, glass, source of tin for electroplating and immersion plating, tex- tile fireproofing, stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide, blueprint paper, laboratory reagent.
Sodium stannate is fundamental in the metallurgic industry to remove arsenic and lead and in the ceramics and glass industries. The sodium stannate is applied for the production of tin based compounds and for the stabilization of peroxides. Sodium stannate is also used for tin surface treatment.
Details:
Sodium stannate is a kind of stanniferous alkaline inorganic compound, usually has 3 crystal water, and molecular formula is generally write as Na 2SnO 33H 2O also can be write as Na 2Sn (OH) 6Product is white crystalline powder, and is tasteless, is insoluble to ethanol, acetone, soluble in water, and the aqueous solution is alkalescence.Lose crystal water when being heated to 140 ℃, meet acid and decomposes, be placed in the air easily absorption moisture and carbonic acid gas and become yellow soda ash and stannic hydroxide. The most important purposes of sodium stannate is to be used for eleetrotinplate and alloy thereof, for example electroplates tin-zinc, tin-cadmium and tin-copper alloy. Its electroplate liquid is formed simple, and stability is high, and easy handling does not have corrosion to the iron and steel plating piece, and is also low to the protection against corrosion requirement of plating tank.It is zinc-plated that sodium stannate also is used for submergence, can form bright and clean coating on parts such as aluminium alloy car piston.Sodium stannate also is used to be manufactured on matrix, pigment and the catalyzer that has the ceramic condenser of even valency electric constant in sizable temperature range.

Sodium Stannate, a white crystalline solid, is commonly used as an analytical reagent, catalyst, and oxidant in certain chemical reactions. It is commonly used in laboratories to detect phenolic compounds because it reacts with phenols to form purple complexes. In addition, as a tin source in organic synthesis, such as Stille coupling reactions. Sodium stannate trihydrate is prepared by reacting tin ore with sodium hydroxide. When using, attention should be paid to safety, avoiding inhalation of dust or skin contact to prevent poisoning
